SNHG17, as an EMT-related lncRNA, promotes the expression of c-Myc by binding to c-Jun in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Supeng Shen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that SNHG17 is upregulated in ESCC, directly regulates c-Myc transcription by binding to c-Jun protein, and promotes EMT to exacerbate ESCC progression. Furthermore, SNHG17 hyperactivation induced by TGF-beta 1 also activates the PI3K/AKT pathway, facilitating EMT formation.

The Beneficial Effect of Carvacrol in HL-1 Cardiomyocytes Treated with LPS-G: Anti-Inflammatory Pathway Investigations

Guya Diletta Marconi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the protective role of carvacrol (CAR) in the inflammatory process by modulating the TLR4/NF kappa B/NALP3/IL-1 beta pathway and ROS production. CAR demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory effects by reducing TLR4, NF kappa B, NALP3, and IL-1 beta expression, and also showed protective effects against ROS. CAR could potentially be used as a therapeutic agent against inflammatory stimuli.

Identification of a novel mechanism for reversal of doxorubicin-induced chemotherapy resistance by TXNIP in triple-negative breast cancer via promoting reactive oxygen-mediated DNA damage

Yiting Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals the potential molecular mechanism of Thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) in the chemoresistance of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) for the first time. TXNIP inhibits the proliferation of TNBC drug-resistant cells and increases DNA damage accumulation, thereby reducing chemotherapy resistance. Furthermore, the small molecule c-Myc inhibitor 10058-F4 enhances TXNIP expression, promotes reactive oxygen species (ROS) synthesis, and enhances the cytotoxicity of chemotherapy drugs.

Ascorbic Acid: A New Player of Epigenetic Regulation in LPS-gingivalis Treated Human Periodontal Ligament Stem Cells

Guya D. Marconi et al.

Summary: This study revealed that ascorbic acid could enhance a protective effect in an in vitro periodontitis model by downregulating the inflammatory pathway and ROS generation, as well as modulating the miR-210 level.

Graphene oxide loaded with tumor-targeted peptide and anti-cancer drugs for cancer target therapy

Ran Li et al.

Summary: In this study, nanoscale graphene oxide (NGO) was successfully used as a drug carrier to improve the process of tumor-targeted drug releases and enhance the accumulation of chemotherapy drugs in tumor tissues while reducing toxicity to normal cells. The designed nanoparticle system DOX@NGO-PEG-HN-1 showed significantly increased cellular uptake and cytotoxicity in oral squamous cell carcinoma cells, with pH-responsive drug release capabilities, demonstrating potential for improving anticancer drug efficiency.

Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition Associated with Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinomas: A Review

Rogelio Gonzalez-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: Mesenchymal conversion occurring in malignant epithelial neoplasms promotes aggressive tumor behavior. Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas are aggressive, recurrent, and metastatic neoplasms involving various molecules and signaling pathways in the malignant conversion process. The review focuses on main molecules related to EMT, interactions with the tumor microenvironment, epigenetic regulation, hypoxia, inflammation, immune cell relationships, and EMT inhibition in the context of HNSCCs.
