Structure, optical, and electrical characterization of nanostructured gallium sulfide Ga2S3 thin films for electronic and solar cell applications

A. Abdel Moez

Summary: Ga2S3 thin films with different thicknesses (32, 60, 100, and 140 nm) were prepared using inert gas condensation technique with Argon gas. The study showed that grain size increases and nanocrystalline structure is observed as film thickness increases. These films exhibit a direct optical energy gap which increases with film thickness, while the electrical resistivity decreases with film thickness.

Sodium control in Ultrathin Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells on transparent back contact for efficiencies beyond 12%

Summary: This study investigates the effects of Na doping on the performance of ultrathin CIGSe solar cells on ITO-coated Na-free glass substrates. The results show that Na doping significantly enhances the performance of the solar cells, particularly in terms of open circuit voltage and fill factor. Controlling the amount of added sodium can lead to higher efficiency, providing a solid foundation for the development of ultrathin CIGSe cells on TCO in promising applications.

Semitransparent and bifacial ultrathin Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells via a single-stage process and light-management strategy

Summary: This study presents the material properties and performance characteristics of semitransparent ultrathin CIGS solar cells prepared on two types of transparent conducting oxide rear contacts using a single-stage co-evaporation method. The results show that the single-stage process is effective for fabricating high-performance semitransparent CIGS solar devices. Light management plays an important role in devices with ultrathin CIGS absorbers, with a textured PDMS layer enhancing light absorption properties. The device prepared on a flat In2O3:Sn rear contact with a textured PDMS layer exhibits superior performance, with a conversion efficiency of 10.5% and an average visible transmittance of 12.3%.

Van der Waals heterojunction interface passivation using ZnS nanolayer and enhanced photovoltaic behavior of semitransparent ultrathin 2D-MoS2/3D-chalcogenide solar cells

Summary: A semitransparent ultrathin CIGSe solar cell with a 2D transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) buffer layer was proposed to meet various functional needs. By inserting a ZnS nanolayer at the heterojunction interface, the photovoltaic properties of the device were improved to overcome degradation due to interfacial defects.
