Metastable Dion-Jacobson 2D structure enables efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

Fei Zhang et al.

Summary: The performance of 3D perovskite solar cells can be improved by treating the surface with 2D layered perovskites that have efficient charge transport. Adjusting the arrangement of organic molecules enhances hole transport and power conversion efficiency. The use of a stable 2D surface layer also improves the performance and stability of 3D perovskite solar cells.

Gas-Assisted Spray Coating of Perovskite Solar Cells Incorporating Sprayed Self-Assembled Monolayers

Elena J. Cassella et al.

Summary: Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are widely used as hole-selective layers in perovskite solar cells. Ultrasonic spray coating and airbrush coating are effective methods for depositing carbazole-based SAMs. Solvent rinsing protocols overcome the dewetting issue of hybrid perovskite precursor solutions. Air-knife gas-quenching is used to remove volatile solvents, allowing fabrication of high-efficiency p-i-n devices with large-area roll-to-roll manufacturing.

Surface engineering with oxidized Ti3C2Tx MXene enables efficient and stable p-i-n-structured CsPbI3 perovskite solar cells

Jin Hyuck Heo et al.

Summary: Surface engineering of the CsPbI3 layer with oxidized Ti3C2Tx MXene nanoplates via spray coatings resulted in highly efficient and stable p-i-n-structured CsPbI3 perovskite solar cells. The addition of OMXene provided a physical barrier against moisture and improved charge separation at the perovskite-electron transporting layer interface, leading to the demonstration of efficient CsPbI3/OMXene-based p-i-n devices with good stability.

Mixed solvent atmosphere induces the surface termination state transition of perovskite to achieve matched energy level alignment

Jia Yuan et al.

Summary: The alignment of energy levels between semiconductors and hole-transporting materials is crucial for the efficiency of perovskite solar cells. By controlling the surface termination state of perovskite crystals using a mixed solvent, the energy levels can be adjusted to better match the HTMs, leading to improved charge extraction and reduced recombination rates. This optimization results in increased open circuit voltage and conversion efficiency of the PSCs.

Efficient and Stable Graded CsPbI3-xBrx Perovskite Solar Cells and Submodules by Orthogonal Processable Spray Coating

Jin Hyuck Heo et al.

Summary: In this study, inorganic CsPbI2Br-based perovskite thin films with a well-defined CsPbI3-xBrx composition gradient were fabricated using a scalable and orthogonal processable spray-coating approach. The graded structure broadened the absorption wavelength range, increased carrier lifetime, and improved charge separation and collection efficiency within a device stack. The power conversion efficiency reached 16.81% for a 0.096-cm(2) PSC, and a monolithically integrated perovskite sub-module achieved an efficiency of 13.82% with less than 9% degradation over 1,000 hours of continuous 1-sun light soaking.
