Morphological and phylogenetic evidence reveal Tetraploa cylindrica sp. nov. (Tetraplosphaeriaceae, Pleosporales) from Saccharum arundinaceum (Poaceae) in Yunnan Province, China

Chun-Fang Liao et al.

Summary: During an investigation of fungal saprobes in Yunnan Province, China, a new species named T. cylindrica was discovered in the Tetraplosphaeriaceae family. Through morphological comparison and multi-locus phylogenetic analysis, it was found to have a close affinity to T. aquatica, T. dashaoensis, and T. nagasakiensis. This study provides new insights into the classification of asexual and sexual morphs of Tetraploa and expands our ecological knowledge of the genus.

Variations in patterns of internode and branch lengths for several bamboo species

Xiongwen Chen

Summary: Bamboos are an important plant resource both economically and ecologically, and understanding their biosystem characteristics is crucial. This study investigated the variations in patterns of internode and branch lengths for twelve bamboo species, revealing differences in node distribution, internode length, and branching frequency among species. The relationships between internode growth, node number, and culm height were explored, providing insights into the optimal design of bamboo biosystems.
