Efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution coupled with benzaldehyde production over 0D Cd0.5Zn0.5S/2D Ti3C2 Schottky heterojunction

Junnan Tao et al.

Summary: The novel dual-functional 0D Cd0.5Zn0.5S/2D Ti3C2 hybrid was fabricated to enhance the photocatalytic efficiency for simultaneous water-to-hydrogen conversion and benzyl alcohol-to-benzaldehyde oxidation under visible light illumination. By increasing the contact area and forming Schottky barrier (SB) sites, the hybrid showed improved electron-hole separation and light utilization. Experimental measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations supported the efficient performance of the hybrid catalyst in hydrogen evolution and benzaldehyde production.

Self-Supported Ceramic Electrode of 1T-2H MoS2 Grown on the TiC Membrane for Hydrogen Production

Yangyang Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, binder-free, cost-effective, and stable hydrogen evolution reaction electrocatalytic electrodes with a customized size were successfully fabricated using a self-template strategy. The electrodes exhibited superior electrocatalytic performance, high Faradaic efficiency, and remarkable stability, attributed to the unique dual pore structure and the synergistic effect of TiC and MoS2. This research provides insights into the development of efficient and stable electrodes for industrial hydrogen production.

Single-source-precursor synthesis of porous W-containing SiC-based nanocomposites as hydrogen evolution reaction electrocatalysts

Zhaoju Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, W-containing SiC-based ceramic nanocomposites were prepared using a polymer-derived ceramic approach. The high-temperature phase behavior was studied, showing that excessive carbon source in the feed will inhibit the crystallinity of nanoparticles. The nanocomposites maintained high specific surface area even at high temperatures and exhibited electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction.
