Combined-function optics for circular high-energy hadron colliders

M. Giovannozzi et al.

Summary: This paper discusses an important issue in the design of future circular high-energy hadron colliders, which is how to maximize the filling factor of the dipole magnets. By proposing the use of a combined-function periodic cell and discussing the optical properties of the proposed structure, as well as the design of the required superconducting magnets, a solution is presented.

The challenge of monochromatization Direct s-channel Higgs production: e+e- → H

Angeles Faus-Golfe et al.

Summary: The FCC-ee plans to measure the electron Yukawa coupling with a dedicated run at 125 GeV collision energy. To reduce energy spread, monochromatization may be used by introducing nonzero horizontal dispersion. Two configurations are being studied, one using crab cavities for effective head-on collisions and the other maintaining a standard crossing angle while introducing energy-location correlation for an integrated scan of the Higgs resonance curve.

Reassembly and Test of High-Field Nb3Sn Dipole Demonstrator MDPCT1

Alexander Zlobin et al.

Summary: Fermilab has developed and tested a high-field Nb3Sn dipole demonstrator MDPCT1 within the U.S. Magnet Development Program, achieving a world record magnetic field of 14.1 T. The magnet was first assembled with a lower coil pre-load and then reassembled with nominal pre-load to reach its design field limit of 15 T. The paper discusses details of inspection, design modifications and reassembly, as well as the magnet's quench performance in the temperature range of 1.9-4.5 K.

Very high upper critical fields and enhanced critical current densities in Nb3Sn superconductors based on Nb-Ta-Zr alloys and internal oxidation

F. Buta et al.

Summary: The introduction of ZrO2 nanoparticles into Nb3Sn superconducting materials can effectively inhibit grain growth and increase the critical current density. This method can enhance the performance of Nb3Sn superconducting wires to meet the demands of the Future Circular Collider. Additionally, internally oxidized Zr can raise the upper critical field of Nb3Sn samples and reduce the distance between grain boundaries.
