Quantitative analysis of an ECR Ar plasma structure by X-ray spectroscopy at high spatial resolution

E. Naselli et al.

Summary: In the context of the PANDORA_Gr3 project, a new multi-diagnostic approach has been proposed to correlate plasma parameters to nuclear activity. This approach involves several detectors and techniques, with a focus on high resolution spatially-resolved X-ray spectroscopy. By developing a new algorithm for analyzing single-photon-counted images, it has been possible to investigate the spatially resolved quantitative characterization of plasma versus plasma walls emitted spectra.

A Novel Approach to β-Decay: PANDORA, a New Experimental Setup for Future In-Plasma Measurements

David Mascali et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an innovative method using a compact plasma trap to simulate stellar conditions and measure the nuclear beta-decay rates of radionuclides. The plasma trap, designed with specific parameters, will monitor plasma parameters and detect gamma-rays emitted from the excited daughter nuclei to measure the decay rates. Additionally, the plasma trap can also be used to measure plasma opacities and their impact on energy transport and spectroscopic observations of astrophysical objects.

Innovative Analytical Method for X-ray Imaging and Space-Resolved Spectroscopy of ECR Plasmas

Eugenia Naselli et al.

Summary: This study presents an innovative multi-diagnostic system for high-resolution, spatially resolved X-ray spectroscopy. The system utilizes multiple detectors and techniques, and employs an analysis algorithm to obtain Single Photon-Counted (SPhC) images in a High-Dynamic-Range (HDR) mode. The system allows for quantitative characterization of warm electrons population in the plasma, estimation of plasma density and spectral temperatures. The setup is being updated to enable simultaneous space and time-resolved plasma spectroscopy.

Microwave techniques for electron cyclotron resonance plasma diagnostics

David Mascali et al.

Summary: This paper provides a review of the main microwave diagnostic techniques and tools used in electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source laboratories, with a focus on techniques developed at INFN-LNS. It discusses optimization tools such as power monitors, spectral analysis, and network analyzers, as well as devices developed for in-plasma analysis. The paper also examines the implications and interplays of microwave techniques in multidiagnostic systems, particularly in time resolved microwave measurements and advanced signal processing.

Presolar Grain Isotopic Ratios as Constraints to Nuclear and Stellar Parameters of Asymptotic Giant Branch Star Nucleosynthesis

Sara Palmerini et al.

Summary: Recent models suggest that in evolved low-mass stars during the AGB phase, magnetic flux-tube buoyancy drives the formation of C-13 reservoirs, causing issues with the synthesis of N-14 and other intermediate-mass nuclei. AGB winds may preserve C-rich substances, challenging previous assumptions about their formation conditions.

A novel numerical tool to study electron energy distribution functions of spatially anisotropic and non-homogeneous ECR plasmas

B. Mishra et al.

Summary: A numerical tool has been developed to analyze spatially anisotropic electron populations in ECR plasmas, using a trial-and-error method to fit the electron energy distribution function. Testing the method on warm electrons revealed a stronger contribution from hot electrons than expected, providing feedback for more realistic simulation data.
