ScRNA-seq identified the metabolic reprogramming of human colonic immune cells in different locations and disease states

Qiuchen Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the metabolic reprogramming of human colonic immune cells in different locations and disease states. The findings revealed distinct metabolic characteristics of immune cells in different regions and states, and identified the relationship between impaired immune cell function in ulcerative colitis and dysregulated cellular metabolism.

Statistics and network-based approaches to identify molecular mechanisms that drive the progression of breast cancer

Shahin Alam et al.

Summary: This study identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between breast cancer (BC) and control samples, constructed a protein-protein interaction network, and selected key genes. The DEGs were found to significantly enrich key biological processes, molecular functions, cellular components, and pathways related to BC, and had strong prognostic power. Transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulators of these key genes were also detected. Additionally, three repurposable candidate-drugs for BC treatment were suggested and validated through molecular docking analysis.

Single-Cell Sequencing Identifies the Heterogeneity of CD8+T Cells and Novel Biomarker Genes in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hailei Wang et al.

Summary: This study revealed the heterogeneity of different CD8+ T cell subsets in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using single-cell RNA sequencing data. The cytotoxic CD8 T cell subset 4 was found to be closely associated with the survival and prognosis of HCC, and four differential genes were identified as potential biological markers for HCC.

Risk-Related Genes and Associated Signaling Pathways of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

Fulai Gao et al.

Summary: This study used bioinformatics tools to identify differentially expressed genes in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and analyze the related signaling pathways. The expression of CENPA, CDK1, TPX2, CCNB1, CCNA2, BUB1, AURKA, KIF11, and NDC80 genes was found to be associated with the risk of GIST formation. These genes encode proteins that regulate the division, proliferation, and apoptosis of GISTs mainly through the PI3K/AKT, MARK, P53, WNT, and other signaling pathways.

BUB1 drives the occurrence and development of bladder cancer by mediating the STAT3 signaling pathway

Ning Jiang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that increased expression of BUB1 in human bladder cancer was associated with the activation of STAT3 signaling. Inhibition of BUB1 kinase activity effectively suppressed BCa cell proliferation and cancer progression both in vitro and in vivo. The BUB1/STAT3 complex played a critical role in promoting the transcription of STAT3 target genes, highlighting the potential of BUB1 as a therapeutic target for bladder cancer treatment.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
