The Long-Term Effects of 12-Week Intranasal Steroid Therapy on Adenoid Size, Its Mucus Coverage and Otitis Media with Effusion: A Cohort Study in Preschool Children

Summary: The purpose of this study was to analyze the long-term effects of a 12-week course of topical steroids on adenoid size, mucus, and middle ear effusion. The results indicated that there was no significant effect on adenoid size, mucus, and otitis media with effusion (OME) three to six months after finishing the treatment. Therefore, the decision of adenoidectomy and tympanostomy should not be procrastinated.

The Impact of the Thermal Seasons on Adenoid Size, Its Mucus Coverage and Otitis Media with Effusion: A Cohort Study

Summary: The study aimed to analyze seasonal differences in adenoid size and mucus levels via endoscopy, as well as changes in middle ear effusion via tympanometry. Results showed that thermal seasons did not influence the size of pharyngeal tonsils, but increased mucus coverage of adenoids and deterioration of middle ear function in winter may lead to seasonal clinical deterioration in children.
