A preliminary study of shear-wave elastography for the evaluation of varicocele in adolescents and young adults

Summary: This study used shear-wave elastography (SWE) to assess the changes in testicular stiffness during the Valsalva maneuver in patients with varicocele. The results showed that increased testicular stiffness was observed in patients with high-grade varicocele during the Valsalva maneuver, and the degree of stiffness change was correlated with the clinical grade.

Summary: SWE is a potential technique for the noninvasive, simply operated, repeatable and quantitative evaluation of arterial ED. Intracavernous injection significantly reduced SWE values, and SWE values of CCP in arterial ED were significantly larger than in non-vascular ED. Additionally, there was a negative correlation between SWE values of CCP before ICI and the age of patients in arterial ED.

This non-invasive and easily applicable imaging method has the potential to be a reliable sonographic modality for predicting sperm retrieval in NOA patients.

Testicular shear wave elastography in oligo-astheno-teratozoospermic individuals: a prospective case-control study

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate testicular stiffness in men with OAT and a control group using ultrasound shear wave elastography. Results showed significant differences in testicular volume and stiffness between the two groups, with men with OAT having higher testicular stiffness values. Men with abnormal semen parameters showed inverse correlations between testicular stiffness and total sperm count, sperm concentration, and progressive motility, which were not evident in the control group.
