Optical characterization of Yb3+:CsPbCl3 perovskite powder

M. Stefanski et al.

Summary: CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskites have unique properties that make them suitable for various applications. This study focuses on CsPbCl3 perovskite doped with 9% Yb3+ ions, prepared using a solid-state reaction method. The obtained sample showed phase purity, micrometer size, and non-hygroscopic properties even after one year of synthesis. Spectroscopic analysis revealed that the luminescence mechanism in CsPbCl3:9%Yb3+ perovskite is dependent on the average grain size.

X-ray screening identifies active site and allosteric inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 main protease

Sebastian Guenther et al.

Summary: The study identified 37 compounds that bind to the SARS-CoV-2 main protease through a high-throughput x-ray crystallographic screen of two repurposing drug libraries. Among these compounds, one peptidomimetic and six nonpeptidic compounds showed antiviral activity in cell-based viral reduction assays at nontoxic concentrations. The identification of two allosteric binding sites presents potential targets for drug development against SARS-CoV-2.
