Fate and transport of coastal driftwood: A critical review

Enda Murphy et al.

Summary: Driftwood from natural and anthropogenic sources is abundant in coastal regions and plays a significant role in ecosystems. However, large accumulations of driftwood can have negative impacts on coastal ecosystems and navigation. Understanding the fate and transport processes of coastal driftwood is essential for sustainable management practices, with current knowledge predominantly based on studies of rivers and tsunamis.
