Phylogenetic relationships within the Mexican genusBakerantha(Hechtioideae, Bromeliaceae) based on plastid and nuclear DNA: Implications for taxonomy

Katya J. Romero-Soler et al.

Summary: In this study, we used extensive sampling and analyzed nuclear and chloroplast gene sequences to determine the phylogenetic relationships and species boundaries within Bakerantha. We described a new species, B. hidalguense, and found that B. caerulea is morphologically and ecologically different from B. tillandsioides. Our results confirmed the monophyly of Bakerantha and identified five evolutionary lineages within the genus.

Botanical history and typification in the Tillandsia ionantha complex

Juan Jose Ancona et al.

Summary: Based on a historical compilation of the routes and botanists of the 19th century, it was determined that the holotype of Tillandsia ionantha is of Mexican origin; furthermore, lectotypification of T. rubentifolia was conducted, and T. scopus was considered a name not validly published.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
