Summary: This study used stochastic frontier analysis to calculate the efficiency of marine science and technology innovation in 11 coastal provinces and cities in China from 2006 to 2015, analyzing regional differences and influencing factors. The results show an overall upward trend in marine science and technology innovation efficiency, with significant variation among provinces and cities. There is a significant negative correlation between government support and efficiency, while factors such as the scale of marine scientific research institutions and structure of scientific research personnel have positive impacts. Furthermore, there is no stochastic convergence among the Bohai Rim, Yangtze River Delta, and Pan-Pearl River Delta regions.
