Multiple variants of African swine fever virus circulating in Vietnam

Van Tam Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study genetically characterized the African swine fever virus (ASFV) strains circulating in Vietnam and identified the presence of three variants, with IGR II being the most prevalent. This is the first report of IGR III variants in Vietnam.

Molecular characterization of African swine fever viruses from Burkina Faso, 2018

Moctar Sidi et al.

Summary: The outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in central Burkina Faso was caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV) isolates belonging to genotype I and serogroup 4. The study also revealed the existence of multiple variants, emphasizing the importance of molecular characterization in understanding the evolution of ASFV isolates and the link between epidemics.

A Method for the Analysis of African Swine Fever by Viral Metagenomic Sequencing

ChiHai Ji et al.

Summary: The African swine fever outbreak in China in 2018 severely damaged the pig industry in the country. The complex genome of ASFV and inadequate whole genome information highlight the importance of efficiently obtaining virus genome sequences. Our method provides an efficient way to sequence whole genomes and facilitate ASFV genome sequencing and novel virus discovery.

Comparative Analysis of Full Genome Sequences of African Swine Fever Virus Isolates Taken from Wild Boars in Russia in 2019

Ali Mazloum et al.

Summary: This study conducted full genome phylogenetic analysis on ASFV isolates from wild boars in Russia, revealing their genetic relationship and geographical distribution. Three single locus targets were identified as potential molecular markers with high resolving power for future ASFV phylogenetic practices.
