Medium-temperature thermochemical energy storage with transition metal ammoniates - A systematic material comparison

Danny Mueller et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of transition metal salts reacting with ammonia to form ammonia-coordination compounds for thermochemical energy storage systems, identifying candidates with high energy storage densities and cycle stabilities, particularly stable sulphates and regulated stability for metal chlorides. The combination of CuSO4 and NH3 shows promise with high energy storage density and full reversibility without material degradation.

Fourier-Transform Infrared Analysis of the Dehydration Mechanism of Mg(OH)2 and Chemically Modified Mg(OH)2

Ryo Kurosawa et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of LiCl and LiOH on the dehydration of Mg(OH)(2), revealing that LiOH altered the surface state of Mg(OH)(2) and LiCl affected the bulk phase dehydration. The research proposed potential mechanisms for these effects and discussed the reasons behind Li compounds promoting the dehydration of Mg(OH)(2).

paper Tremendous enhancement of heat storage efficiency for Mg (OH)2-MgO-H2O thermochemical system with addition of Ce(NO3)3 and LiOH

Meng-Tian Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the excellent heat storage performance of magnesium hydroxide doped with cerium nitrate and lithium hydroxide, reducing dehydration temperatures, increasing dehydration and heat storage rates, and decreasing activation energy and pre-exponential factor. The research also shows the promising reversibility of the dehydration-hydration cycle for heat storage using these composites.

Alkali Metal Nitrates Promoted MgO Composites with High CO2 Uptake for Thermochemical Energy Storage

Liji Zhang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of operating parameters on TCES performance and the long-term cycling stability of alkali metal nitrate promoted MgO composites. It was found that the heat storage density is significantly influenced by the nitrate content, and the 10(Li-Na)NO3-MgO composite exhibited good stability.
