Changes in the sediment microbial community structure of coastal and inland sinkholes of a karst ecosystem from the Yucatan peninsula

Pablo Suarez-Moo et al.

Summary: This study reveals the changes in microbial community structure in the sediments of the karst underground river ecosystem of the Yucatan peninsula, and finds differences in microbial groups between coastal and inland sinkholes. These differences may be attributed to different environmental conditions and suggest specific biogeochemical processes associated with different microbial assemblages.

Biosurfactant-Producing Bacillus velezensis PW192 as an Anti-Fungal Biocontrol Agent against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Colletotrichum musae

Watthanachai Jumpathong et al.

Summary: In this study, antifungal biosurfactant-producing Bacillus velezensis PW192 was isolated and characterized. The biosurfactant exhibited stable surface tension properties under different conditions and showed antifungal activity against specific phytopathogens. These findings suggest the potential of this biosurfactant and strain as agricultural biocontrol agents and in other biotechnological applications.

Evaluation of biosurfactant production potential of Lysinibacillus fusiformis MK559526 isolated from automobile-mechanic-workshop soil

Walter Chika John et al.

Summary: The biosurfactant produced by Lysinibacillus fusiformis demonstrated high emulsification potential and significant reduction in surface tension. After optimizing the culture conditions, both biosurfactant production and emulsification index were increased. The biosurfactant mainly consisted of peptides and fatty acids, with 9-Octadecenoic acid being the predominant fatty acid.
