Combined effect of high-dose vitamin A, vitamin E supplementation, and zinc on adult patients with diabetes: A randomized trial

Eman Said et al.

Summary: The study compared the effects of high-dose vitamin A plus E and high-dose vitamin A plus E with zinc on patients with T2DM. Results showed that the group receiving high-dose vitamin A plus E with zinc had significant improvements in blood glucose control, beta-cell function, and insulin secretion.

All-Trans Retinoic Acid Prevented Vein Grafts Stenosis by Inhibiting Rb-E2F Mediated Cell Cycle Progression and KLF5-RARα Interaction in Human Vein Smooth Muscle Cells

Yongchao Yu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that ATRA can effectively prevent vein graft stenosis by inhibiting the excessive proliferation and migration of SMCs, regulating cell cycle progression, and disrupting key protein interactions. ATRA treatment may represent a promising avenue for prevention and therapy of VGF.

All-trans retinoic acid controls differentiation, proliferation, and lipolysis in isolated subcutaneous adipocytes from peripartal Holstein cows

Qiushi Xu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) on bovine adipocytes, showing that ATRA inhibited preadipocyte proliferation and postconfluent preadipocyte differentiation, while promoting basal lipolysis in mature adipocytes.

All-trans-retinoic acid ameliorates atherosclerosis, promotes perivascular adipose tissue browning, and increases adiponectin production in Apo-E mice

Malgorzata Kalisz et al.

Summary: The findings suggest that atRA ameliorates atherosclerosis in Apo-E mice, induces browning of PVAT, and increases adiponectin production in PVAT. Furthermore, atRA increases nitric oxide levels in the aorta of Apo-E mice without affecting adiponectin concentration.

Vitamin A and Vitamin E: Will the Real Antioxidant Please Stand Up?

William S. Blaner et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the mechanisms of action of vitamin A and vitamin E in the body, suggesting that vitamin A acts as an indirect antioxidant by transcriptionally regulating genes involved in antioxidant responses, while vitamin E functions as a direct antioxidant and helps prevent the increase of peroxidized lipids that affect metabolic pathways and gene expression profiles. The review also discusses the lack of compelling evidence for a direct transcriptional mechanism of vitamin E similar to that of vitamin A.

All trans retinoic acid alleviates coronary stenosis by regulating smooth muscle cell function in a mouse model of Kawasaki disease

Eisuke Suganuma et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that all-trans-retinoic acid (atRA) has a significant inhibitory effect on coronary artery stenosis in patients with Kawasaki disease. By suppressing smooth muscle cell migration, atRA effectively alleviates CA inflammation and reduces the incidence of CA stenosis.
