Changes in childhood vaccination during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in Japan

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted routine childhood immunization in Japan, with the most notable decrease in vaccine doses administered observed in March and April 2020, especially in the Tokyo metropolitan area. As child age increased, the decrease in vaccination rates became more apparent, with catch-up of vaccination observed in all age groups before the lift of national emergency measures.
