A highly efficient transformation from cumene to cumyl hydroperoxide via catalytic aerobic oxidation at room temperature and investigations into solvent effects, reaction networks and mechanisms

Qiuting Lu et al.

Summary: An efficient transformation from cumene to cumyl hydroperoxide (CHP) was developed in this study, with hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) significantly promoting the reaction. By investigating the reaction paths and mechanisms, the researchers revealed the transformation process from cumene to products. This discovery may offer a new approach for the production of cumyl hydroperoxide.

Benzylic Csp3-H Bond Oxidation on the (111) Facets of Octahedral Cu2O Nanocrystals

Neelam Gupta et al.

Summary: Octahedral-shaped Cu2O nanocrystals were synthesized and used as catalyst for benzylic sp(3) C-H bond oxidation. The oxidation of Cu2O to CuO can be avoided in the dark or inert atmosphere or continuous flow of oxygen gas. The proposed reaction mechanism involves activation of O-2 molecule through single electron transfer (SET) mechanism on the (111) facets of semiconducting Cu2O NCs in light.

Hierarchically Porous Metal-Organic Gel Hosting Catholyte for Limiting Iodine Diffusion and Self-Discharge Control in Sustainable Aqueous Zinc-I2 Batteries

Hiren K. Machhi et al.

Summary: The rechargeable aqueous zinc-iodine batteries (AZIBs) with a multipurpose sponge-like porous matrix of a metal-organic gel show superior electrochemical performance due to limited iodine diffusion, leading to high capacity retention and long-term stability even after 1500 cycles. Prototype flexible band-aid-type AZIBs also demonstrate promising performance in real-scale wearable applications.

Metal-free nanostructured catalysts: sustainable driving forces for organic transformations

Behnam Gholipour et al.

Summary: Research on heterogeneous catalysts, particularly metal-free catalysts, has been intensifying in recent decades. Despite the advantages of heterogeneous transition metal catalysts, challenges such as cost-effectiveness, pollution, and sustainability still exist. The focus now is on scalable design and development of metal-free catalysts that are economically viable and biocompatible for green and selective synthesis in various industries.
