Highly efficient removal of toxic ions by the activated carbon derived fromCitrus limon tree leaves

Fahime Nemati et al.

Summary: This study aimed to remove lead and arsenic ions from aqueous solutions using activated carbon prepared from Citrus limon tree leaves. The highest adsorption efficiencies were found to be 97.67% and 95.89% for Pb(II) and As(III) respectively. The adsorbent was successfully regenerated four times and the pseudo second-order kinetic model was effective in describing the adsorption mechanism of both metals. Additionally, Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were suitable for lead and arsenic ions, respectively.

Mesoporous activated carbon as a green adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals and Congo red: Characterization, adsorption kinetics, and isotherm studies

Sujata Mandal et al.

Summary: In this study, an effective and environmentally friendly adsorbent, kenaf-based activated carbon (KAC), showed good adsorption capacity for heavy metals and dye in aqueous solution. The optimal pH for adsorption of metal ions and dye was found to be 6 and 4, respectively. The adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and the adsorption efficiency improved with higher temperature. The KAC demonstrated stable adsorption performance even after 3 cycles of reuse.

Evolution of physico-chemical properties of Dicranopteris linearis-derived activated carbon under various physical activation atmospheres

Nga T. Mai et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the physical activation using CO2 and steam agents to improve the physicochemical properties of activated carbon derived from Dicranopteris linearis. The relative proportion of CO2 and steam heavily influences the structure of the activated chars. The increase in steam proportion resulted in a proportional increase in the total specific surface area of the activated chars, making them comparable to commercial products and potentially suitable for industries that require high rigidity products such as pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.
