Coupling coordination degree spatial analysis and driving factor between socio-economic and eco-environment in northern China

Liang Li et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the coupling coordination degree between the ecological environment and economy in northern China, revealing the spatial agglomeration characteristics and influencing factors. The results indicate that most counties are in the stage of ecological-economic transition development, indicating a need for further improvement in coordination. Landscape, terrain, traffic, and climate factors are the main drivers influencing the coordination degree.

Understanding the relationships between the development of the construction sector, carbon emissions, and economic growth in China: Supply-chain level analysis based on the structural production layer difference approach

Yuqi Su et al.

Summary: The study focused on identifying the inter-sectoral relationships between the construction sector and other related sectors in China from 1992 to 2017. It found that sectors such as wholesale and retail trade and finance contribute to economic growth in the construction sector without additional CO2 emissions, while sectors like smelting and processing of metals and transport and storage inhibit economic growth and carbon emissions.

Do rural-urban migration and industrial agglomeration mitigate the environmental degradation across China's regional development levels?

Munir Ahmad et al.

Summary: This research explores the heterogeneous dynamic impacts of rural-urban migration and industrial agglomeration on environmental degradation in Chinese provinces at different regional development levels. The study reveals a positive linkage from industrial agglomeration and rural-urban migration to energy utilization, with significant impacts found in highly developed regions. Additionally, the combined impacts of linear and non-linear parameters confirm environmental Kuznets curves in models with the tertiary sector.

Research on temporal and spatial variations in the degree of coupling coordination of tourism-urbanization-ecological environment: a case study of Heilongjiang, China

Tao Zhang et al.

Summary: By proposing a complex evaluation index system based on coupling mechanisms across the tourism, urbanization, and ecological environmental development subsystems in Heilongjiang Province, this study provides insights into the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of comprehensive development levels and coupling coordination degrees. The results suggest a steady increase in the degree of coupling, which is significant for accelerating the development and ensuring sustainable development in the regional economy.

Coupling and coordinated development of new urbanization and agro-ecological environment in China

Jie Cai et al.

Summary: This study conducted an empirical investigation into the spatio-temporal differentiation of and influencing factors on the coupling and coordinated development of new urbanization and the agricultural ecological environment in China. The results showed that the coupling degree between China's new urbanization and the agro-ecological environment is generally in the antagonistic stage, with the coordination degree on the verge of imbalance. Financial support for agriculture, rural economic development, environmental pollution control capabilities, and government capabilities were found to significantly impact the degree of coupling and coordination between the two.
