Determination of Nutritional Value of Alfalfa Varieties and Lines by Using the In Vitro Method and Gas Production Technique

M. Boga et al.

Summary: This study used the in vitro gas production technique to determine the nutritional value of different alfalfa varieties and lines selected in the Cukurova Region Alfalfa Breeding Project. The YSH 11-4 line showed the highest total gas production and had relatively high ME, OMD, and NEL contents.

Effects of Applying Lactic Acid Bacteria and Molasses on the Fermentation Quality, Protein Fractions and In Vitro Digestibility of Baled Alfalfa Silage

Yixiao Xie et al.

Summary: The study improved the fermentation quality, protein quality, and digestibility of late-harvested alfalfa silage by applying Lactobacillus plantarum and molasses. The application of LP and molasses reduced pH and ammonia nitrogen contents, preserved true protein, and enhanced neutral detergent fiber digestibility. Additionally, LP mitigated the negative effects of excessive molasses on acid detergent insoluble nitrogen content.

Effect of Ellagic Acid on Fermentation Quality and Bacterial Community of Stylo Silage

Xuan Zou et al.

Summary: The study found that adding ellagic acid to stylo silage increased dry matter and crude protein content, decreased pH, coliform bacteria, and acetic acid content, and increased antioxidant activity. Ellagic acid also reduced the abundance of harmful bacteria while increasing beneficial lactic acid bacteria, improving fermentation quality and protein preservation.
