Particle Swarm Optimization with New Initializing Technique to Solve Global Optimization Problems

Adnan Ashraf et al.

Summary: Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is a popular optimization algorithm, and in this study, an enhanced variation using quasi-random sequence (QRS) for population initialization is proposed to improve convergence rate and diversity. The integration of toms sequence with PSO, known as TO-PSO, provides a new approach for population initialization. Experimental results demonstrate the outstanding performance of the proposed method compared to traditional approaches.

New Modified Controlled Bat Algorithm for Numerical Optimization Problem

Waqas Haider Bangyal et al.

Summary: The Bat algorithm (BA) is a well-known meta-heuristic algorithm used for solving optimization problems. This study proposes an improved variation of BA, called the Modern Computerized Bat Algorithm (MCBA), which applies torus walk to enhance local search capability. Experimental results demonstrate that MCBA outperforms standard PSO and BA, and the MCBA-NN algorithm shows promising performance for training artificial neural networks.

A New Initialization Approach in Particle Swarm Optimization for Global Optimization Problems

Waqas Haider Bangyal et al.

Summary: Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is widely used for optimization problems, where population initialization plays a crucial role in influencing diversity and convergence. A new initialization technique named WELL, utilizing low-discrepancy sequences, is introduced in this paper to enhance the performance of PSO, termed as WE-PSO, for solving optimization problems in large-dimensional search spaces. The results show that WE-PSO outperforms standard multimodal problem-solving techniques, indicating the efficacy of the proposed approach in improving accuracy and diversity in solving optimization problems.

Studying the Impact of Initialization for Population-Based Algorithms with Low-Discrepancy Sequences

Adnan Ashraf et al.

Summary: Meta-heuristic algorithms are widely used to solve optimization challenges, with a focus on population initialization. This paper introduces three new low discrepancy sequences and provides a detailed survey of different initialization methods, showing that initialization based on low discrepancy sequences is more effective than uniform random numbers.
