Adsorption of Malachite Green and Alizarin Red S Dyes Using Fe-BTC Metal Organic Framework as Adsorbent

Giulia Rossella Delpiano et al.

Summary: Synthetic organic dyes are commonly used in various industrial sectors but are also harmful water pollutants. In recent years, research has focused on developing materials for the removal of dyes from water, particularly nanostructured adsorbent materials like Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs). This study found that an iron-based Fe-BTC MOF showed good results in adsorbing alizarin red S and malachite green dyes, achieving rapid adsorption equilibrium.

A biocompatible Zr-based metal-organic framework UiO-66-PDC as an oral drug carrier for pH-response release

Yan Wang et al.

Summary: A biocompatible Zr-based metal-organic framework UiO-66-PDC was synthesized using 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid as the ligand, showing ideal structure and excellent water stability. The anti-inflammatory drug IBUNa was loaded into UiO-66-PDC, leading to a pH-response drug release behavior with higher release in intestinal environment than gastric environment, indicating its potential as an oral drug carrier.

Loading of the Model Amino Acid Leucine in UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH2: Optimization of Metal-Organic Framework Carriers and Evaluation of Host-Guest Interactions

Vera V. Butova et al.

Summary: The synthesis technique allowed for the production of bioactive chemical containers UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH2 suitable for biomedical applications. By using D,L-Leucine as a model molecule, the loading process was traced, showing the coordination between amino groups of UiO-66-NH2 and solvent residuals, resulting in a similar route of leucine loading in both samples. Bond formation between methyl groups of leucine molecules and an MOF matrix was proposed, indicating potential applications in small-molecule delivery and cell signaling and metabolism modulation.

被撤回的出版物: Synthesis and surface modification of mesoporous metal-organic framework (UiO-66) for efficient pH-responsive drug delivery and lung cancer treatment (Retracted article. See vol. 33, 2022)

Canguo Xie et al.

Summary: This paper utilized mesoporous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) of UiO-66 particles for pH-responsive doxorubicin (DOX) delivery. The loading of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) facilitated DOX release, and the composite of UiO-66/CMC@DOX showed a 78% cumulative release of DOX under acidic conditions. The cytotoxicity study demonstrated that UiO-66 MOFs were an efficient drug delivery carrier for chemotherapeutic drugs.

Metal-organic frameworks vs. buffers: case study of UiO-66 stability

Daniel Buzek et al.

Summary: The study found that UiO-66 exhibits varying stability in different buffers, with HEPES buffer being the most benign and NEM and PB leading to rapid degradation of the UiO-66 framework, suggesting they should be avoided. Additionally, rapid release of terephthalate was observed regardless of the buffer used, indicating immediate attack on UiO-66 upon mixing. The results highlight the importance of monitoring MOF components release using sensitive analytical techniques in liquid environments to quantify material stability.
