High-dose-rate brachytherapy boost for locally advanced cervical cancer: Oncological outcome and toxicity analysis of 4 fractionation schemes

Maud le Guyader et al.

Summary: The study reported the results of using different HDR-BT fractionation schemes for treating LACC, showing similar treatment outcomes for all schemes within five years, but higher-dose schemes resulted in slightly more toxicities. EQD2(10)D(90)CTV(HR) < 85 Gy was identified as a prognostic factor for local recurrence.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the treatment outcomes of using different image-guided adaptive brachytherapy treatments for cervical cancer. The results showed no difference in 2-year local control rate and disease-free survival rate between CT-BT and TAUS-BT groups, but higher vaginal toxicity was observed in the TAUS-BT group.

Summary: In the management of cervical cancer, low-risk patients can achieve favorable local control with de-escalated treatment intensity. Factors such as tumor reduction ratio, tumor size, and total treatment time can be used to identify these low-risk patients.

3D image guided adaptive brachytherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer: experience and clinical results from a minimum of six years of follow-up

Marit Sundset et al.

Summary: The study reports the clinical results of 65 cervical cancer patients treated with individualized 3D image guided brachytherapy at St. Olays Hospital in Trondheim, Norway, from 2005 to 2010. Overall, 92% of the patients achieved treatment response, with good local control and 5-year overall survival rate at 71% and cancer specific survival rate at 80%. Some patients experienced bladder and gastrointestinal symptoms, with 14% of symptoms categorized as serious.
