Comparison of five-year survival rates among patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma with and without association with syphilis: a retrospective case-control study

Moritz Hertel et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess whether the presence of syphilis affects the five-year survival rates of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma. Through retrospective analysis, it was found that there was no significant difference in the five-year survival rates between oral cancer patients with and without syphilis.

Classification of Cell-in-Cell Structures: Different Phenomena with Similar Appearance

Karol Borensztejn et al.

Summary: Cell-in-cell (CIC) phenomenon, known for over 100 years, is experiencing a renaissance due to modern visualization techniques and its potential prognostic and diagnostic value for cancer patients. However, there are many unresolved questions and challenges in studying CIC, which involve complex cell interactions and molecular mechanisms.

Entosis is induced by ultraviolet radiation

Ruoyao Chen et al.

Summary: Research has identified JNK and p38 stress-activated kinase signaling as an inducer of cell entosis in response to UV radiation. Cells with high stress signaling levels are ingested and killed by those with low levels, while also triggering apoptosis and necrosis responses in stressed cells. These findings demonstrate the cross talk between different forms of cell death that can occur simultaneously in response to UV radiation.
