Human pituitary development and application of iPSCs for pituitary disease

Ryusaku Matsumoto et al.

Summary: The pituitary gland plays a crucial role in maintaining systemic homeostasis by secreting hormones, and its development is regulated by the expression of transcription and growth factors. Understanding of the developmental processes and mechanisms of human pituitary disorders is limited due to the lack of a human pituitary developmental model. Recently, methods for inducing pituitary glands from human pluripotent stem cells have been developed, providing new avenues for regenerative medicine and pituitary research.

Consensus on diagnosis and management of Cushing's disease: a guideline update

Maria Fleseriu et al.

Summary: Cushing's disease requires accurate diagnosis, careful treatment selection, and long-term management. The Pituitary Society convened a consensus workshop to discuss recent evidence and clinical practice. Recommendations regarding lab tests, imaging, and treatment options were collated and discussed, with focus on future research topics.

Genetics of Acromegaly and Gigantism

Anna Boguslawska et al.

Summary: GH-secreting pituitary tumors are highly genetically determined, with both germline and somatic mutations. Mutations can occur in known genes such as AIP, PRKAR1A, GPR101, GNAS, and others. Identifying genetic mutations can help in screening associated comorbidities and finding affected family members before clinical manifestation of the disease.
