Disorders of Tetrahydrobiopterin Metabolism: Experience from South India

Somdattaa Ray et al.

Summary: Disorders of tetrahydrobiopterin metabolism are rare inherited neurotransmitter disorders that primarily manifest in infancy or childhood with developmental delay, neuroregression, epilepsy, movement disorders, and autonomic symptoms. This retrospective study in South India identified nine genetically confirmed cases of tetrahydrobiopterin metabolism disorders. The study found that early treatment with dietary restrictions and medication can improve the outcomes of patients with tetrahydrobiopterin deficiencies.
