Tunable CO/H2 ratios of electrochemical reduction of CO2 through the Zn-Ln dual atomic catalysts

Zhong Liang et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a series of single and dual atomic catalysts, adjusting the CO/H-2 ratio in the produced syngas. The ZnLa-1/CN catalyst showed good stability and a high faradaic efficiency of up to 80% in producing syngas. Theoretical calculations confirmed the roles of Zn and La in determining CO and H-2 formation, providing a promising strategy for the development of more controllable CO2RR atomic catalysts.

Designing Undercoordinated Ni-Nx and Fe-Nx on Holey Graphene for Electrochemical CO2 Conversion to Syngas

Josh Leverett et al.

Summary: In this study, a top-down approach was proposed for the controlled preparation of undercoordinated Ni-N-x and Fe-N-x catalysts within a holey graphene framework, for the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction to synthesis gas. The findings demonstrated that these catalysts can be combined in any proportion to produce a desired syngas ratio, necessary for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of liquid fuels and chemicals. The results also showed the potential of these catalysts for scale up, with high mass-normalized activity and stability in a high-throughput gas diffusion electrolyzer.

Copper-indium hydroxides derived electrocatalysts with tunable compositions for electrochemical CO2 reduction

Qixian Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, composition tunable Cu-In hydroxides were fabricated, and the composition effect on the selectivity of CO2 reduction products was investigated. It was found that increasing In content in the electrocatalysts shifted the selectivity from CO to formate. Furthermore, Cu-rich electrocatalysts mainly produced CO, while In-rich electrocatalysts selectively produced formate with high Faradaic efficiencies.
