Liberating photocarriers in mesoporous single-crystalline SrTaO2N for efficient solar water splitting

Lin Yang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the exceptional activity and stability of porous single-crystalline SrTaO2N in photocatalytic oxygen production, achieving a record-breaking apparent quantum efficiency. Water splitting with a hydrogen/oxygen ratio of 2 has been accomplished in a Z-scheme system using SrTaO2N as the oxygen-evolution component. These results indicate a paradigm shift in improving photocatalytic performance and expanding the toolbox for efficient solar water splitting.

High-Density Lewis Acid Sites in Porous Single-Crystalline Monoliths to Enhance Propane Dehydrogenation at Reduced Temperatures

Guoming Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, high-density Lewis acid sites were created and engineered on the surfaces of porous single-crystalline Mo2N and MoN monoliths to enhance the non-oxidative dehydrogenation of propane to propylene. The top-layer Mo ions with specific coordination structures provided effective activation of C-H bonds without overcracking of C-C bonds, resulting in propane conversion of approximately 11% and propylene selectivity of approximately 95% at 500 degrees C.

Influence of Cation Size on the Local Atomic Structure and Electronic Properties of Ta Perovskite Oxynitrides

Xin Wang et al.

Summary: Partial anion substitution in transition metal oxides offers opportunities to control physical and chemical properties, with cis ordering of the nitrogen anions favored for lattice stability. As the A cation size decreases, local cis ordering and Ta off-centering play a lesser role in overall lattice stability, overshadowed by the stabilizing effects of octahedral tilting.
