First-principles investigation of solution mechanism of C in TM-Si-C matrix as the potential high-temperature ceramics

Delin Pu et al.

Summary: The study used first-principles calculations to investigate the occupation mechanism of C in TM5Si3 silicides, revealing that C element prefers to occupy Mo5Si3-C(2) and Ta5Si3-C(3) models. Additionally, the results show that the additive C element weakens the mechanical properties of TM5Si3, but can improve the fracture toughness of Mo5Si3 and Ta5Si3.

New insight into the structural stability, ductility and melting point of Mo5SiB2 under high-pressure environment

Delin Pu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of high pressure on the structural stability, mechanical properties, and melting point of Mo5SiB2 using first-principles calculations. The results show that all Mo5SiB2 phases are thermodynamically stable and pressure significantly increases ductility and melting point. Additionally, pressure can adjust the localized hybridization between Mo, Si, and B atoms in Mo5SiB2.

Influence of noble metals on the electronic and optical properties of LiH hydride: First-principles calculations

Ende Yu et al.

Summary: In this study using first-principles calculations, it was found that noble metals have thermodynamic stability in LiH hydride, with Pt-doped LiH showing dynamical stability. The introduction of noble metals improves electronic transfer performance of LiH and eliminates the band gap when H-1s state is induced to the Fermi level. Additionally, Pt doping enhances the optical activity of LiH for visible and infrared light.

Tuning intrinsic defects in γ-CuI by cation and anion doping

Shutong Hao et al.

Summary: Gamma-CuI is a promising scintillator with ultrafast decay time contributed by near-band-edge emission, and its luminescence properties are directly related to intrinsic defects. By doping with cations and anions, such as Li, Na, Mg, F, Cl, and Br, the intrinsic defects can be tuned to enhance the scintillation performance. Experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach in creating and eliminating vacancies to improve the luminescence properties of gamma-CuI.
