Configurations of collaborations based on learning orientations amongst medical students

Feifei Han et al.

Summary: Collaboration is crucial for medical students to perform well in healthcare teams, but developing and assessing such skills effectively is challenging. A study on Australian medical students' collaborative learning configurations found five different collaborative configurations, with the most desirable one formed by students with an 'understanding' orientation. This study not only has practical implications for teaching and curriculum design, but also significant implications for assessing students' collaborative learning experiences.

Marie Stenberg et al.

Summary: Formative peer assessment in higher healthcare education focuses on learning and development of students by promoting constructive feedback among peers. Studies have shown that the organization and structure of assessment activities, personal attributes, and outcomes of feedback and learning are crucial in the successful implementation of formative peer assessment. Empirical investigations exploring peer collaboration are essential for enhancing the experiences of both students and teachers in this process.
