COVID-19 vaccination with approved vaccines is safe for immunocompromised patients.

Vestibular impairment in AIED is rarely studied in detail due to the focus on auditory symptoms and their responsiveness to immunosuppression in the proposed diagnostic criteria. This article presents three cases of vestibulopathy in the context of autoimmune inner ear conditions, including the first reported case of autoimmune inner ear pathology associated with the administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech SARS-CoV2 vaccination.

Reactivation of herpes simplex keratitis following vaccination for COVID-19

Summary: An 82-year-old man with a history of herpes simplex keratitis experienced recurrence 1 day after receiving the novel COVID-19 vaccine. Despite worsened condition, treatment with systemic aciclovir, prednisolone, moxifloxacin, atropine, and oral doxycycline led to clinical improvement and improved visual acuity. While the benefits of vaccination are important, ophthalmic providers should be aware of the rare potential for reactivation of herpetic eye disease following vaccination for prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Systematic Review and Meta-analysis: Effectiveness of Corticosteroids in Treating Adults With Acute Vestibular Neuritis

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of corticosteroids in treating acute vestibular neuritis in adults. Eight studies were reviewed, with six included in the meta-analysis. The results showed no significant differences in complete recovery rates between corticosteroid and placebo groups at 1, 6, and 12 months. While there was better caloric recovery in the corticosteroid group at 1 month, overall effects did not differ across 12 months. Subjective recovery also did not vary between groups. Five studies reported adverse effects from corticosteroids, leading to the conclusion that there is insufficient evidence to support their use in managing acute vestibular neuritis.
