Characteristics of the Immune Cell Infiltration Landscape in Gastric Cancer to Assistant Immunotherapy

Chenlu Li et al.

Summary: This study identified three subtypes of gastric cancer based on immune cell infiltration scores, with low ICI scores associated with increased tumor mutation burden and the immune-activating signaling pathways, while high ICI scores were linked to immunosuppressive pathways and poor prognosis. Lower ICI scores were shown to exhibit significant therapeutic responses and clinical benefits in external immunotherapy and chemotherapy cohorts, highlighting the importance of ICI scores as predictive indicators for immunotherapy in gastric cancer.

Identification and Validation of Immune Cells and Hub Genes in Gastric Cancer Microenvironment

Huan Wang et al.

Summary: This study identified five immune cells associated with infiltration and 20 hub genes, of which five genes were correlated with overall survival, through the analysis of gene expression profiles and clinical data. Furthermore, the expression differences of these hub genes in gastric cancer and adjacent tissues were detected using real-time PCR. This research provides potential targets for immunotherapy of gastric cancer and offers new insights for immunotherapy in various tumors.

Identification of three immune subtypes characterized by distinct tumor immune microenvironment and therapeutic response in stomach adenocarcinoma

Yimiao Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the association between patient survival, tumor immune microenvironment (TIME), and therapeutic response in primary stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD). The results reveal that the TIME phenotypes of STAD patients can be classified into three different molecular subtypes, which display different prognoses, immune features, and therapeutic responses. These findings shed new light on predicting patient outcomes and the discovery of new anti-STAD therapeutic strategies based on TIME.

Characteristics of immunophenotypes and immunological in tumor microenvironment and analysis of immune implication of CXCR4 in gastric cancer

Fang Wen et al.

Summary: The study utilized machine learning algorithms to analyze the immunophenotypes and immunological characteristics of gastric cancer patients, finding a connection between C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) and the gastric cancer immune microenvironment. The results indicated that CXCR4 could serve as a potential prognostic biomarker and immunotherapy target for gastric cancer.

Identification of Immune-Related Prognostic Markers in Gastric Cancer

Yanxin He et al.

Summary: In this study, the gene expression difference between gastric cancer (GC) and the control group was analyzed. Immune-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified and enriched. Differences in immune cell infiltration and immune function between GC and normal tissues were observed. Prognostic genes for GC were determined using Cox regression analysis and survival analysis in TCGA and GSE62254 datasets. The potential prognostic role of genes was further evaluated using a risk score. FABP4, LBP, LCN1, CMA1, INHBA, ANGPTL1, ACKR1, GHR, and OGN were identified as potential markers for monitoring the prognosis of GC in the future.

Tumor-infiltrating B cell is associated with the control of progression of gastric cancer

Zhonglin Ni et al.

Summary: The study found that B cell infiltration, especially class-switched memory B cells and plasma cells, in gastric cancer has a significant impact on tumor progression and prognosis. High levels of CD20+ B cell infiltration were significantly associated with improvements in overall survival and disease-free survival.

Tumor-Infiltrating Natural Killer Cells

Beatriz Cozar et al.

Summary: NK cells play a crucial role in immune responses to tumors by killing target cells and producing cytokines, but they can become dysfunctional in the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. This article provides an overview of NK tumor infiltration and surveillance, as well as the mechanisms by which NK cells become dysfunctional.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
