IFI27 is a potential therapeutic target for HIV infection

Huijuan Huang et al.

Summary: This study identified key genes related to HIV infection through differential expression analysis and coexpression analysis. These genes were associated with interferon signaling, T cell immunity, and HIF-1 signaling pathways. Furthermore, the study found that some genes were modified by methylation and immune cell infiltration in HIV patients was restored after treatment. The results of this study provide potential target genes for early diagnosis and treatment of HIV patients, and IFI27 may be a powerful target for immunotherapy.

Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus show increased proportions of CD19+CD20-B cells and secretion of related autoantibodies

Qingqing Zhu et al.

Summary: In summary, this study found that SLE patients have abnormal frequencies of CD19(+)CD20(-)B cells with increased expression of surface markers, which are correlated with disease activity. The CD19(+)CD20(-)B cells from SLE patients showed increased secretion of anti-dsDNA and IgG, suggesting they may be the activated B cells responsible for the poor efficacy of rituximab.

Update on the diagnosis and management of systemic lupus erythematosus

Antonis Fanouriakis et al.

Summary: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by clinical heterogeneity, unpredictable course and flares. Diagnosis remains clinical with limited serologic test confirmation, and newer classification criteria offer more accurate classification. Treatment goals focus on patient survival, flare prevention, organ damage prevention, and quality of life optimization. High-intensity immunosuppressive therapy followed by less intensive therapy is typically used to control disease activity in severe cases of SLE.

Access and Cost-Related Nonadherence to Prescription Medications Among Lupus Patients and Controls: The Michigan Lupus Epidemiology and Surveillance Program

Deeba Minhas et al.

Summary: The study found that systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients were more likely than controls to report cost-related prescription nonadherence, including skipping doses, taking less medicine, and delaying filling prescriptions, yet less than one in four patients asked providers for lower cost medications. Disparities were found in association with income, race, and health insurance status, but the main findings persisted after adjusting for these and other variables in multivariable models.

Identification of key biomarkers and immune infiltration in systemic lupus erythematosus by integrated bioinformatics analysis

Xingwang Zhao et al.

Summary: The study identified IFI27 as a potential key player in the pathogenesis of SLE, and highlighted the important role of immune cell infiltration in the progression of the disease. The research sheds light on new insights into the molecular mechanisms of SLE and provides potential markers for diagnosis and progression monitoring.

IFI27 may predict and evaluate the severity of respiratory syncytial virus infection in preterm infants

Junyan Gao et al.

Summary: This study identified differentially expressed genes associated with RSV infection susceptibility in preterm infants and found IFI27 as a potential biomarker for predicting and evaluating the severity of RSV infection. High expression of IFI27 was correlated with more severe RSV cases, increased need for mechanical ventilation, more frequent hospitalizations, and longer cumulative hospital stays.

From incomplete to complete systemic lupus erythematosus; A review of the predictive serological immune markers

Summary: SLE is a complex autoimmune disease with challenges in early identification and timely treatment. Some patients may exhibit symptoms suggestive of iSLE, but not all progress to full SLE. Therefore, predictive biomarkers are needed to distinguish high-risk patients for early intervention.

Id3 and Bcl6 Promote the Development of Long-Term Immune Memory Induced by Tuberculosis Subunit Vaccine

Jiangyuan Han et al.

Summary: The study found that IL-7 can help TB subunit vaccine induce the formation of long-lived memory T cells, and increase the expression of the key transcription factors Id3, Bcl6, and Bach2. The adjuvant effects of transcriptional factors Bcl6 and Id3 can also increase the production of antibodies and long-lived memory T cells with high proliferative potential and IFN-gamma secretion after re-exposure to the same antigen.

EIF2AK2 selectively regulates the gene transcription in immune response and histones associated with systemic lupus erythematosus

Lan Ge et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that EIF2AK2 is highly expressed in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, and overexpression of EIF2AK2 promotes apoptosis in HeLa cells. EIF2AK2 selectively represses the transcription of genes associated with SLE and immune response, and this regulation is mediated by EIF2AK2-targeted transcription factors (TFs) network.

Expression characteristics of interferon-stimulated genes and possible regulatory mechanisms in lupus patients using transcriptomics analyses

Yiyao Deng et al.

Summary: Through single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, it was found that monocytes, B cells, dendritic cells, and granulocytes were significantly increased in SLE patients, while subsets of T cells were significantly decreased. Neutrophils and low-density granulocytes exhibited the highest ISG activity. 31 common ISGs were found expressed in both PBMCs and kidneys, and these ISGs were also most active in neutrophils and LDGs.
