Metal ions impact on the isostructurality and properties of 2D coordination polymers

Yurii M. Chumakov et al.

Summary: Two new coordination polymers with the general formula {[(ML)-L-II]center dot xsolvent}(n), in which M-II = Fe, Co, have been prepared solvothermally and characterized. The compounds exhibit isostructurality with different solvents and show similarities with our previously reported homo- and heteronuclear coordination layers. Photoluminescence study shows that some of the compounds exhibit high photoluminescence intensities. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the properties of the coordination polymers significantly depend on the nature of the metal ions.

Acesulfame complex compounds of some lanthanide group metal cations. Synthesis and characterization

Leriman Zeybel et al.

Summary: Rare earth metal cations (Eu3+, Tb3+, HO3+, Er3+ and Yb3+) were synthesized with the acesulfame ligand using hydrothermal method. Structural characterization of the compounds was done using elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, mass analysis, solid-state UV-vis spectroscopy, and TGA curves, revealing a sixteen-coordination structure with one hydrate water. The thermal decomposition of the complex structures formed metal oxides as products, as determined by FT-IR analysis.

The Magnetism of Metal-Organic Frameworks for Spintronics

Kangmin Lee et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) composed of metal nodes and organic linkers by coordinative bonding have diverse applications such as gas storage/separation, catalysis, and sensors. Recent advancements in enhancing the electrical conductivity of MOFs have led to applications in electronic and energy devices, as well as the development of MOF magnets for spintronics. MOFs have chemically tunable porous structures and designable structures with strong p-d hybridization, making them significant components in spintronic devices supporting long-lifetime and long-range alignment of spin-polarized electrons.
