Tocochromanol Profiles in Chlorella sorokiniana, Nannochloropsis limnetica and Tetraselmis suecica Confirm the Presence of 11′-a-Tocomonoenol in Cultured Microalgae Independently of Species and Origin

Alexander Montoya-Arroyo et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the tocochromanol profiles of Chlorella sorokiniana, Nannochloropsis limnetica, and Tetraselmis suecica and confirmed the presence of 11-α T1 as the predominant α T1 isomer in these microalgae. The findings suggest that α T1 is not restricted to terrestrial photosynthetic organisms, but can also accumulate in microalgae of different species.

Bioethanol production from defatted biomass of Nannochloropsis oculata microalgae grown under mixotrophic conditions

Nashwa A. H. Fetyan et al.

Summary: In this study, sugarcane bagasse aqueous extract (SBAE) was used to cultivate N. oculata microalgae, which were then subjected to acid hydrolysis and enzymatic treatment to obtain high carbohydrate yields for ethanol fermentation. The highest ethanol yield was achieved with samples from defatted biomass grown mixotrophically pretreated with acid coupled enzyme hydrolysis.

Insights into the physiology of Chlorella vulgaris cultivated in sweet sorghum bagasse hydrolysate for sustainable algal biomass and lipid production

Neha Arora et al.

Summary: Supplementing cultivation media with exogenous carbon sources can enhance the biomass and lipid production in microalgae, while reducing costs and increasing sustainability. Developing a medium from sweet sorghum bagasse for cultivation of Chlorella under mixotrophic conditions can lead to optimal lipid productivity. Improved biomass and lipid content were observed in Chlorella cultivated in sweet sorghum bagasse hydrolysate under mixotrophic conditions, with a higher concentration of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids suitable for biofuel manufacturing.
