Sinasol versus Optisol-GS for cold preservation of human cornea: a prospective ex vivo and clinical study

Mohammad Ali Javadi et al.

Summary: This study compared the ex vivo results of donor corneas stored in Sinasol and Optisol-GS, and presented the clinical outcomes of grafted corneas preserved in Sinasol versus Optisol-GS. The findings demonstrated that Sinasol is a safe, effective, and affordable medium for cornea preservation, with comparable outcomes to Optisol-GS in terms of endothelial cell loss and overall quality. The post-operative reports of corneal transplantations using Sinasol-preserved corneas showed no adverse reactions, indicating the reliability of Sinasol as a storage medium.

Evaluation of various preservation media for storage of donor corneas

Namrata Sharma et al.

Summary: This study compared the physical and microbiological characteristics of three different corneal storage media, and found that Optisol-GS and Cornisol were better at preserving endothelial cell density and stabilizing corneal thickness compared to MK medium. The functional outcomes, however, were comparable among the three groups.

Human cornea conservation in coconut water solution

David Antonio Camelo Cid et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the physical and chemical characteristics of coconut water and its use in the preservation of human corneas. Results showed that coconut water-based solutions were not effective for corneal preservation.
