Magnetic polarization selective spectroscopy of magnetic thin films probed by wideband crossed microstrip circuit in GHz regime

Tomonori Arakawa et al.

Summary: The paper presents a method for obtaining wideband magnetic polarization selective spectra of magnetic thin films using circularly polarized microwaves. The method combines an over-coupled crossed microstrip resonator and a hybrid coupler for accurate control of circularly polarized microwaves. The performance of the method is demonstrated with an yttrium iron garnet thin film, and the polarization dependence of Kittel mode and perpendicular standing spin wave mode is detected in the range of 3-20 GHz.

Nanoscale neural network using non-linear spin-wave interference

Adam Papp et al.

Summary: Wave based computing in neuromorphic systems utilizes spin-waves for non-linear operations, with signal routing and weight interconnections achieved through interference of scattered waves. Training the network involves finding the desired input-output mapping field pattern, and the computational power greatly increases in the non-linear interference regime.

Summary: The field of magnonics introduces low-power information processing using magnons instead of electrons. Inverse design magnonics allows for specified functionality and feedback-based computational algorithm to obtain device design, showing universality with linear, nonlinear and nonreciprocal magnonic functionalities. This approach can be used for highly efficient rf applications and computing building blocks.
