Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-tandem-MS) has become the new gold standard for confirmatory drug testing due to its ability to analyze a wider range of analytes compared to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Technical advancements such as high-resolution mass spectrometry and miniature ambient ionization mass spectrometry have improved the speed and efficiency of drugs of abuse testing.
