Chemical Identity of Poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) End Groups Impact Shape Evolution During the Synthesis of Ag Nanostructures

Suprita Jharimune et al.

Summary: Ag nanocubes are mainly synthesized using the polyol method, where PVP plays a crucial role in shaping the nanoparticles. The presence of different end groups on PVP influences the formation of AgNCs, with certain end groups leading to the preferential formation of nanowires. This study provides insights into the role of PVP in nanoparticle shape control and offers a unique opportunity to design nanostructures with specific properties.

Silver Nanowires as Electron Transfer Mediators in Electrochemical Catechol Biosensors

Coral Salvo-Comino et al.

Summary: This study utilized silver nanowires to design a novel catechol electrochemical biosensor, enhancing the aspect ratio of the electron mediator and improving contact surface area between enzymes and electrode surface. This led to sensitive detection of catechol in wine samples with stable, reproducible, and excellent anti-interference characteristics. The results demonstrate the promising potential of silver nanowires in nanowired biosensors for rapid and sensitive detection of phenols in real applications.

Quantitative understanding of nucleation and growth kinetics of silver nanowires

Suneha Patil et al.

Summary: It has been demonstrated that high aspect ratio silver nanowires can be prepared through polyol synthesis by controlling process related issues such as the overhead space in the batch reactor. By optimizing parameters like presence of NOx gases and refluxing of nitric acid with 80% volume overhead space, near complete conversion of high aspect ratio NWs can be achieved. Various factors like temperature, stirring rate, Chloride ion concentration, optimal PVP weight ratios and PVP/AgNO3 ratio play a crucial role in rapid polyol synthesis of high aspect ratio NWs.

Synthesis of AgNWs using copper bromide as stabilizing agent and oxygen scavenger and their application in conductive thin films

Shah Fahad et al.

Summary: Silver nanowires (AgNWs) were successfully synthesized using a polyol method, with the influence of copper bromide (CuBr2) salt and various factors on the final morphology studied. Characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, HRTEM, SAED, XRD, and UV-Vis spectroscopy were used to study the morphology, crystallinity, and optical properties of the synthesized AgNWs. Conductive properties of AgNWs thin films were also investigated by coating the nanowires on PET substrate.
