On the Reaction Mechanism of Direct H2O2 Formation over Pd Catalysts

Lin Chen et al.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an effective green oxidant used in various industrial processes. This study focused on the reaction mechanism for direct formation of H2O2 from H2 and O2 over Pd catalysts, finding that Pd is in a hydride phase under typical reaction conditions. The importance of surface steps and high hydrogen coverage for enhancing the selectivity of the reaction towards H2O2 was demonstrated in the results.

Theoretical insight into hydroxyl production via H2O2 decomposition over the Fe3O4(311) surface

Pin-Jun Lin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanism of H2O2 decomposition over the Fe3O4(311) surface using density functional theory calculations. Different adsorption and decomposition behaviors of H2O2 were observed on Fe2+/Fe3+ and Fe3+/Fe3+ environments. The results show that H2O2 follows the Haber-Weiss mechanism to form OH anion and OH radical on Fe2+/Fe3+ environment, while it follows the radical mechanism to form two OH radicals on Fe3+/Fe3+ environment.

Insight into single-element nobel metal anisotropic silver nanoparticle shape-dependent selective ROS generation and quantification

Jabran Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study investigated the bactericidal capacity of different shapes of silver nanoparticles, with triangular shape demonstrating the best antibacterial performance at a low concentration compared to cube and rod shapes. Oxygen radicals (ROS) were found to play a crucial role in microbial mutilation, with O-2(-) identified as the dominant species among ROS. Geometrical shape and attachment to bacterial surface were found to be of paramount significance in physically deteriorating bacterial cells.
