Performance of V2O5 hole selective layer in CdS/CdTe heterostructure solar cell

Rishabh Raj et al.

Summary: In this study, five CdS/CdTe heterostructure solar cells were synthesized using various fabrication methods. The role of AZO, ZTO, and V2O5 layers in the solar cell operation was investigated through measurements of structural, optical, and electrical characteristics. The results showed that AZO, ZTO, and V2O5 layers played an important role as charge selective layers in the heterostructure solar cell, with the V2O5-equipped cell exhibiting better performance and higher efficiency.

Back contact buffer layer of WO3 nanosheets in thin-film CdTe solar cell

Hafiz Tariq Masood et al.

Summary: By utilizing hydrothermally synthesized WO3 nanosheets, a unique thin-film back contact was designed for CdTe solar cells, replacing traditional Cu contacts. The energy barrier at the WO3/CdTe interface was significantly reduced, resulting in improved performance of CdTe thin-film solar cells with WO3 NSs as a buffer layer.

Altering NH4OH concentration in producing chemical bath deposited CdS to steadily support electrodeposited CdTe

G. K. U. P. Gajanayake et al.

Summary: The study focuses on using CBD to grow CdS to support the growth of CdTe by changing the volume of NH4OH. The optimal volume of NH4OH was determined based on the properties of the developed CdS. The CdS developed exhibited a band gap energy of 2.32 eV with n-type conductivity at the CdS/electrolyte junction and a blended hexagonal/cubic structure.

Summary: In this study, a simple and low-cost method was introduced to enhance the electrical properties of cadmium sulfide thin films in photoelectrochemical cells by incorporating seed layers, resulting in improved open-circuit voltage, flat-band potential, and short-circuit current. The presence of seed layers improved the contact between the substrate and cadmium sulfide, leading to enhanced performance in the PEC cell.
