EIS Investigation of the Corrosion Behavior of Steel Bars Embedded into Modified Concretes with Eggshell Contents

Yuri Alexandre Meyer et al.

Summary: This study focuses on evaluating the corrosion behavior of steel bars embedded in concretes, by replacing a portion of sand and cement contents with eggshell particles. The corrosion behavior is evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and the potentiodynamic polarization technique. The results show that the use of finer eggshell particles in the concrete mixture can enhance the passivation of the rebar and improve corrosion resistance. This environmentally friendly and economical concrete shows great potential for practical applications.

Electrochemical and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy study of Guanine as corrosion inhibitor for copper

Elaine F. Silva et al.

Summary: The study found that Guanine effectively inhibits copper corrosion in 0.1 M HCl with an efficiency of approximately 87%, and its protective effect is maintained up to 333 K. This inhibition is achieved by modifying the copper surface through Guanine adsorption, forming a Cu(I)Guanine complex at extended immersion times as revealed by SERS measurements.

Purine derivatives as high efficient eco-friendly inhibitors for the corrosion of mild steel in acidic medium: Experimental and theoretical calculations

Zhineng Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, two purine derivatives, FAP and N-BAP, were evaluated as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in HCl solution, showing high inhibition performance and stability. The adsorption mechanism on steel surface and the diffusion behavior of corrosive species were elucidated through theoretical calculations and molecular dynamics simulations. The results demonstrate that the adsorbed films of FAP and N-BAP effectively prevent the diffusion of corrosive species, thereby inhibiting the corrosion of mild steel.

Summary: In this study, plasma-assisted electrochemical reactions on the metal surface of light metals were investigated using low temperature-interfacial plasma electrolysis in the presence of nitrogen-containing organic compounds. It was found that the addition of Melamine (MEL) and N.N.N'.N'-tetramethylenediamine (TEMD) promoted the formation of magnesium oxide and magnesium silicate, leading to improved corrosion protection.

The inhibition mechanism and adsorption behavior of three purine derivatives on the corrosion of copper in alkaline artificial seawater: Structure and performance

Xiaomeng Guo et al.

Summary: The research investigated the inhibition mechanism and adsorption behavior of three purine derivatives on the corrosion of copper in alkaline artificial seawater, revealing that the inhibition efficiency of hypoxanthine (I) was the highest, followed by guanine (G) and adenine (A). The inhibitors all followed the Langmuir adsorption model, with G and I molecules adsorbed parallelly on the copper surface for better inhibition effect. This study could provide insights into the influence of functional groups on inhibition performance and possibilities for improvement.
