Molecular tweezers - a new class of potent broad-spectrum antivirals against enveloped viruses

My-Hue Le et al.

Summary: A new supramolecular approach for broad spectrum antivirals is developed based on host-guest chemistry. By encapsulating basic amino acids inside molecular tweezers, this method disaggregates and neutralizes protein fibrils, leading to the loss of their ability to enhance viral infection. Additionally, molecular tweezers bind to viral membranes, disrupting them and effectively eliminating infectivity for various viruses.

High-precision calibration of wide-angle fisheye lens with radial distortion projection ellipse constraint (RDPEC)

Mingyi Huang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel technique for wide-angle fisheye lens calibration without the need for metric information or particular reference patterns. The proposed technique establishes a fisheye imaging model and mathematically formulates a non-linear calibration model for high-precision estimation of the interior orientation parameters (IOPs). Experimental results show that the proposed technique achieves the best agreement with the fisheye imaging model compared to ground-truth parameters and parameters estimated by other methods.

Aging safely in Alentejo - understanding for action-preventing falls and violence against older people: study rationale, aims, design, and preliminary results

Catarina Pereira et al.

Summary: The ESACA project aims to promote healthy aging for older people in Alentejo by preventing falls and violence. The study found that a considerable proportion of participants had risks of falling and violence, with high cumulative rates of risk factors. Effective prevention strategies for falls and violence require targeted and informative assessments, diagnoses, and communication to all stakeholders.

Ventral & Dorsal Stream Theory based Zero-Shot Action Recognition

Meng Xing et al.

Summary: The proposed VD-ZSAR method extracts nonredundant visual features based on the Ventral & Dorsal Stream Theory, and learns the correlation between actions through a visual-semantic joint embedding space. Experimental results demonstrate the favorable performance of the approach across multiple datasets.

A reliable technique to fabricate superconducting joints between single grain, Y-Ba-Cu-O bulk superconductors

J. V. J. Congreve et al.

Summary: (English Summary:) The production of large (RE)Ba-Cu-O single grains is limited by slow grain growth process and limited post-processing techniques. By using single grain YBCO-Ag as an interface medium, a quick and effective joining technique is developed, enabling the production of multiple composite grains with comparable superconducting properties.

SSK modulated WPCN with Euclidean distance based selection combining receiver

Hemanta Kumar Sahu

Summary: This paper analyzes the performance of space shift keying (SSK) modulation in a wireless-powered communication network (WPCN) with selection combining based on generalized Euclidean distance at the receiver. The study shows that selecting a certain number of receiving antennas with energy harvesting can improve system performance and reduce receiver complexity and the number of RF chains. The results provide insights into the impact of energy harvesting on system performance.
