Sequence Analysis of the Complete Mitochondrial Genome of a Medicinal Plant, Vitex rotundifolia Linnaeus f. (Lamiales: Lamiaceae)

Xiaoli Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, we characterized the mitochondrial genome of Vitex rotundifolia, a valuable medicinal plant. We found that the mitochondrial genome of V. rotundifolia had a circular structure and consisted of 38 protein-coding genes, 19 tRNAs, and 3 rRNAs. Comparative analysis revealed the presence of homologous sequences in the mitochondrial genomes of related species. Additionally, a multipartite structure mediated by homologous recombination was observed in the V. rotundifolia mitochondrial genome. Phylogenetic analysis provided insights into the evolutionary relationship of V. rotundifolia with other species in the Lamiales order.

Assembly and comparative analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome of Suaeda glauca

Yan Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, the mitochondrial genome of a halophytic model plant S. glauca was assembled and annotated, providing insights into the genome characteristics and variation of mt genomes in plants. The subsequent analysis revealed the importance of protein-coding genes in the mt genomes and their negative selections.
