Concave wall-based mixing chambers and convex wall-based constriction channel micromixers

Ranjitsinha R. Gidde

Summary: This study investigated the mixing performance of micromixers with concave wall-based mixing chambers and convex wall-based constriction channel, exploring the impact of obstacle shape and aspect ratio on mixing dynamics. Two distinct flow regimes were identified based on Reynolds number, with rectangular obstacle-based micromixer showing superior mixing index at Re ≥ 30. The micromixers are simple in design and suitable for environmental and clinical analysis or diagnostic systems.

Numerical study of heat transfer enhancement of non-Newtonian nano fl uid in porous blocks in a channel partially

Kourosh Javaherdeh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop in a parallel channel partially filled with porous blocks and non-Newtonian nanofluid. Increasing the Reynolds number can improve heat transfer, and using a non-Newtonian nanofluid with a power-law index of 1.5 can achieve a higher Nusselt number compared to Newtonian fluids.

Kinematic Measurements of Novel Chaotic Micromixers to Enhance Mixing Performances at Low Reynolds Numbers: Comparative Study

Toufik Tayeb Naas et al.

Summary: A comparative investigation of chaotic flow behavior inside multi-layer crossing channels was conducted in this study to select suitable micromixers. New micromixers were proposed and compared with an efficient passive mixer TLCCM. The results revealed that the new designs exhibited rapid mixing with lower pressure losses compared to the TLCCM configuration.

Summary: This study investigated the heat transfer characteristics of MHD nanofluids on a stretching surface, finding that Al2O3/H2O/SWCNT mixtures have higher friction rates and reduced Nusselt numbers compared to Cu/H2O/SWCNT mixtures. This result can inform manufacturing and industrial decisions.

Non-Newtonian phase change study of nano-enhanced n-octadecane comprising mesoporous silica in a porous

S. A. M. Mehryan et al.

Summary: The study investigated the thermal and hydrodynamic behaviors of non-Newtonian suspension of nanoenhanced PCM in porous media. The use of nanoparticles in the NePCM altered its rheological and thermophysical characteristics. Results showed that increasing concentration of nanoparticles reduced the average Nusselt number and the normalized melt volume fraction (NMVF), while porosity played an important role in the phase-change rate.

Flow and heat transfer analysis of elastoviscoplastic generalized non-Newtonian fluid with hybrid nano structures and dust particles

Liang Cheng et al.

Summary: Non-Newtonian rheological models like Oldroyd-B, Maxwell, and Jeffrey models were utilized to study thermal enhancement in the presence of dust and hybrid nanoparticles. Numerical solutions for fluid and solid phase were obtained using the shooting method, with analysis on Nusselt number and shear stress for the different fluid models. Memory effects in the Oldroyd-B hybrid nanofluid were found to be stronger compared to the Maxwell and Jeffrey hybrid nanofluids.
