The International Pulsar Timing Array second data release: Search for an isotropic gravitational wave background

J. Antoniadis et al.

Summary: In this study, we searched for an isotropic stochastic gravitational wave background using the second data release of the International Pulsar Timing Array. We found evidence for a spectrally similar low-frequency stochastic process and demonstrated that the combined international data set is more sensitive. Although no significant evidence of a gravitational-wave origin was found, future international data releases are expected to increase sensitivity and detection probability.

Non-thermal origin of asymmetric dark matter from inflaton and primordial black holes

Basabendu Barman et al.

Summary: This study investigates the possibility of co-genesis of baryon and dark matter through the decay of right-handed neutrinos, considering two non-thermal scenarios: resonance decay of inflaton and evaporation of ultralight primordial black holes. By setting up a complete set of Boltzmann equations, the parameter space of the particle physics setup is constrained to ensure the correct abundance of dark matter and baryon asymmetry, while being consistent with other cosmological bounds.

Constraining primordial black holes as dark matter using the global 21-cm signal with X-ray heating and excess radio background

Shikhar Mittal et al.

Summary: Using the global 21-cm signal measurement from the EDGES collaboration, constraints are derived on the fraction of dark matter in the form of primordial black holes (PBHs) with masses in the range 10^15-10^17 g. The analysis takes into account the X-ray heating effect on the intergalactic medium and utilizes the full shape of the 21-cm absorption feature. The study also considers an excess radio background and finds that PBH-induced heating coupled with X-ray heating is favored by the data.

Searching for New Physics with a Levitated-Sensor-Based Gravitational-Wave Detector

Nancy Aggarwal et al.

Summary: The levitated sensor detector (LSD) is a compact resonant gravitational-wave (GW) detector based on optically trapped dielectric particles. It offers a more favorable frequency scaling at high frequencies compared to laser interferometer detectors. By optically levitating a multilayered stack of dielectric discs, the sensitivity of LSD can be substantially improved. This detector can explore a significant amount of unexplored frequency space for GWs and is capable of detecting various sources such as black hole superradiance and high-frequency gravitational waves from binary coalescence of primordial black holes.

Sensitivities on nonspinning and spinning primordial black hole dark matter with global 21-cm troughs

Akash Kumar Saha et al.

Summary: Detection of the global 21 cm signal arising from neutral hydrogen can revolutionize our understanding of the standard evolution of the Universe after recombination. In addition, it can also be an excellent probe of dark matter (DM). This work investigates the sensitivities on nonspinning and spinning primordial black holes (PBHs) arising from an EDGES-like measurement of the global 21 cm signal, and finds that the sensitivities will be competitive with those arising from other astrophysical observables. The study also derives projections on the PBH density from the absorption trough expected during the Dark Ages, showing that the near future unambiguous detection of the global 21 cm absorption troughs can be an excellent probe of PBH DM.

Low scale leptogenesis and dark matter in the presence of primordial black holes

Suruj Jyoti Das et al.

Summary: The study investigates the connection between low scale leptogenesis, dark matter, and primordial black holes. It is found that while primordial black holes can affect leptogenesis, they may lead to overproduction of scalar doublet dark matter, with their evaporation usually occurring before dark matter freeze-out. Additionally, primordial black holes can act as a non-thermal source of leptogenesis and dilute thermally generated lepton asymmetry via entropy injection.

Summary: It has been suggested that Gaia has the potential to detect a stochastic gravitational wave background in a frequency range ideal for studying phase transitions in early universe cosmology. Additionally, Gaia could be used to differentiate between primordial black holes produced during early universe transitions and those expected from the QCD epoch. Furthermore, Gaia may play a role in exploring topological defects and shedding light on recent NANOGrav results.

Detectable Gravitational Wave Signals from Affleck-Dine Baryogenesis

Graham White et al.

Summary: Affleck-Dine baryogenesis generates the baryon asymmetry of the Universe through the evolution of the vacuum expectation value of a scalar condensate, which fragments into Q balls to enhance the gravitational wave signal. The rapid decay of Q balls produces a sharp peak in the gravitational wave power spectrum, providing a mechanism to test Affleck-Dine baryogenesis.

Small scale induced gravitational waves from primordial black holes, a stringent lower mass bound, and the imprints of an early matter to radiation transition

Nilanjandev Bhaumik et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyze the induced stochastic gravitational wave background (ISGWB) originating from inflationary models, particularly focusing on the production of nearly monochromatic primordial black holes (PBHs) in the asteroid mass range. Our numerical calculations reveal that even ultralight PBHs, which would have completely evaporated by now, can still generate a detectable ISGWB signal. Additionally, we investigate the effects of reheating on the ISGWB spectrum and establish stringent mass limits for ultralight PBHs in various inflationary models.
