Electric dipole moments of neutron and heavy quarks c, t in CP violating U(1)XSSM

Ben Yan et al.

Summary: We study and analyze the electric dipole moments (EDMs) of neutron and heavy quarks c, t in a CP-violating (CPV) supersymmetric U(1) extension of the standard model called U(1)(X)SSM. Our numerical results show that the neutron EDM can be smaller than its experimental upper bound without a small CPV phase. The magnitudes of EDMs of heavy quarks c and t are also determined.

Electric dipole moments from colour-octet scalars

Hector Gisbert et al.

Summary: In this study, we calculate the contributions to electric dipole moments (EDMs) induced by the Yukawa couplings of an additional electroweak doublet of colour-octet scalars. The full set of one-loop diagrams and the enhanced higher-order effects from Barr-Zee diagrams are computed for the quark (chromo-)EDM, along with the two-loop contributions to the Weinberg operator. Constraints on the parameter space of the Manohar-Wise model are derived using the stringent experimental upper limits on the neutron EDM.

Pion-Nucleon Sigma Term from Lattice QCD

Rajan Gupta et al.

Summary: In this study, analysis of the pion-nucleon sigma-term using lattice data was conducted to remove excited-state contamination, with results consistent with phenomenological values. Further calculations on additional physical mass ensembles are needed to confirm the results and resolve the tension between lattice QCD and phenomenology.

Nucleon electric dipole moment from polarized deep inelastic scattering

Yoshitaka Hatta

Summary: This study establishes a connection between the CP-odd three-gluon operator and twist-four corrections in polarized deep inelastic scattering, providing a numerical estimate of the electric dipole moment of proton and neutron induced by the Weinberg operator. The results tend to be smaller than previous estimates based on QCD sum rules, but the differences can be attributed to theoretical uncertainties.

Nuclear matrix elements from lattice QCD for electroweak and beyond-Standard-Model processes

Zohreh Davoudi et al.

Summary: In the past decade, numerical solutions of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) using lattice QCD techniques have advanced to the point of connecting fundamental aspects of nuclear physics with the underlying degrees of freedom of the Standard Model. Lattice QCD calculations of nuclear matrix elements offer guidance for low energy nuclear reactions in astrophysics, dark matter direct detection experiments, and experimental searches for violations of the symmetries of the Standard Model.

A low-energy perspective on the minimal left-right symmetric model

W. Dekens et al.

Summary: The study presents a global analysis of the low-energy phenomenology of the minimal left-right symmetric model (mLRSM) with parity symmetry, determining a lower bound on the mass of the right-handed W-R boson. In models where a Peccei-Quinn mechanism is present, a mass of M-WR greater than or similar to 5.5TeV at 95% C.L. is obtained, which can be improved with next-generation EDM experiments. However, in P-symmetric mLRSM without the Peccei-Quinn mechanism, a more stringent constraint of M-WR greater than or similar to 17TeV at 95% C.L. is found.

Nucleon matrix element of Weinberg's CP-odd gluon operator from the instanton vacuum

C. Weiss

Summary: In this study, we calculate the nucleon matrix element of Weinberg's dimension-6 CP-odd gluon operator in the instanton vacuum, finding it significantly larger than other estimates due to the strong localization of nonperturbative gluon fields in the instanton vacuum. This has implications for the neutron electric dipole moment induced by CP violation.

Beautiful and charming chromodipole moments

Ulrich Haisch et al.

Summary: In the context of the Standard Model effective field theory, constraints on chromodipole operators involving the bottom and charm quark are derived. The experimental upper limit on the neutron electric dipole moment severely limits the imaginary parts of the Wilson coefficients of these operators, while the magnitudes of the Wilson coefficients are weakly limited by dijet searches and Z-boson production in association with bottom-quark jets. Flavour physics does not provide meaningful bounds in this case.

Hunting for CP-violating axionlike particle interactions

Luca Di Luzio et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the impact of ALPs on the search for permanent EDMs of various particles. It emphasizes the high sensitivity of EDMs to CP-violating ALP interactions using both current and projected experimental sensitivities. The researchers evaluated the leading short-distance effects on EDMs at two-loop order by assuming the most general ALP effective field theory.

Electric dipole moments of three-nucleon systems in the pionless effective field theory

Zichao Yang et al.

Summary: The electric dipole moments (EDMs) of three-nucleon systems are calculated in pionless effective field theory. Both one-body contributions from permanent proton and neutron EDMs and two-body contributions from charge-parity-odd nucleon-nucleon interactions are considered. The momentum dependence of the electric dipole form factor in the Wigner limit is found to be similar to the charge form factor, indicating proper renormalization.
